Anne Marie. This is awesome. Thank you again for sharing your stories and experiences in such an honest and laissaz-faire way. I love that you’re not afraid to take on controversial topics, because you’re right, and there are a lot of polarized views and negative players in this menopause game. Well done!
I found myself nodding to a lot of what you listed here. I’ve come to a lot of the same conclusions based on my understanding up to this point. I do not have any underlying health conditions and have about 15 years of healthy nutrition/lifestyle under my belt which has been instrumental in my perimenopause journey. It is a shame we don’t spend more effort helping women with how to implement the proven lifestyle strategies you mentioned. Women should be fully educated and equipped with that information so we can do our best during our years leading up to menopause. I am working on some services to help provide that kind of info/support to women seeking a smoother transition - from nutrition to lifestyle to environment since those things help all kinds of other aspects of health as well. It will be interesting to watch how it all unfolds and where it goes.
Thank you for your work and sharing, AnneMarie. I take HRT and it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Whether there will be any risks later, time will tell. There is risks in everything. HRT gave me quality back to my life. Managing stress and lifestyle choices is something we always have to do regardless on it or not.
Sorting out our life, the same.
I honestly don’t understand the current environment and all the judgement out there.
The only thing that upset me about this piece is your mentioning Christiane Northrop. She is more dangerous than HRT. Of course, do your own research (conspirituality podcast have done several episodes on her).
I watched a presentation from a doctor involved with GLOWNATURAL and she claimed that the new paradigm is that BHRT is preventative medicine. Of course, she clearly points out you have to do make all of the healthy lifestyle changes as well. I find it hard to believe people that back or sell products. I have been a nurse for 32 years and I still can't decide to take BHRT or not. It would help if we had more research. 1 in 4 Americans are women over 40 but research for women's health is 1% of the total research conducted. This really needs to change!!
Love the work you are doing Ann Marie! There is so much confusion and it is actually so shocking how little our health care professionals know. My journey in menopause was arduous to say the least. I was treated for so many things that "couldn't be menopause related because I was too young" or because "my levels were within normal ranges." High BP, anxiety, panic attacks, weight gain, hair loss, sleeplessness. On and on. It was honestly 5 of the hardest years of my life as I suffered from what seems like every symptom out there. I finally found a doctor to listen, do a full work up, and then start me on HRT. I know it's not for everyone, but it literally gave me my life back. We need to advocate for ourselves and fight to find a doctor who will really listen. Sometimes OBGYN's are much more interested in birthing babies than they are in helping a women who is past child bearing years. Don't stop fighting until someone listens!.
Thank you 🙏 It was a discussion I had with myself a few years ago, and although I appreciate her menopause work and books, I can’t personally mention her due to what she stands for today. And if I did I would put a huge disclaimer on it.
Perhaps you could add an ✳️ that you support her menopause work but not her post-retirement views because they are dangerous to our wellbeing and to our black and brown sisters. I’ve seen magazines do this.
Here are two podcasts from conspirituality podcast, if you are interested. It might enlighten and prompt to add the ✳️
Episode 22 Racism and fraud in new age publishing Rebekah Borucki on toxic white women wellness, (talks about Christiane Northrop, Hay House)

Ha ha while I'm not afraid to take them on, it's what happens after that I'm never prepared for. Thank you so much for your kind words.
