There was a great conversation about menopause on The View recently featuring Broadway star Audra McDonald.

The 52-year-old, six-time Tony winner – who also has a six-year-old daughter – said when she opened up about about her experiences in an Instagram post in October, "I was having a rough day with all the symptoms, realizing we don't talk enough about it".

In addition to a “rage rollercoaster”, McDonald said she had night sweats and hot flashes, even “on stage”.

In her post, McDonald wrote: "Just wanted to send a shout out to all women dealing with the frustration, sadness, embarrassment, grief anger, confusion and shame that accompanies perimenopause and menopause. It's no joke. Society drums into us this idea that this inevitable process is to be ignored, not talked about, and ridiculed. It's hard. It sucks. It's painful…
