Why are doctors still not asking about sex?
A new study out this week in Menopause (the journal of The Menopause Society of North America) found most doctors aren’t asking women about sexual problems during routine visits – even though sexual health is an important part of our overall well-being. Researchers surveyed more than 700 healthcare professionals and found that GPs were far less likely than OB/GYNs to bring up sexual concerns. Why? Everything from short appointment times and lack of training to personal discomfort and outdated beliefs. Younger doctors were more likely to discuss sexual health, which is encouraging.
