Women are in the US drinking more in midlife and their older years β including binging. Sarah McKetta, a researcher at Harvard Medical School, presented her national survey findings in Risky Alcohol Use Among Women in the Midlife and Older Ages: Trends and Determinants earlier this month at the annual meeting of the Research Society on Alcohol. βWeβve found that these increases are concentrated among women with high socioeconomic status and relative privilege. This includes women with high education and high income, and women who work in prestigious careers.β (Editorβs note: Who are these women β and how can they drink more, let alone binge?
