Women are in the US drinking more in midlife and their older years – including binging. Sarah McKetta, a researcher at Harvard Medical School, presented her national survey findings in Risky Alcohol Use Among Women in the Midlife and Older Ages: Trends and Determinants earlier this month at the annual meeting of the Research Society on Alcohol. “We’ve found that these increases are concentrated among women with high socioeconomic status and relative privilege. This includes women with high education and high income, and women who work in prestigious careers.” (Editor’s note: Who are these women – and how can they drink more, let alone binge? I can barely drink anything, much as I want to. The last time I had wine I was literally up all night.)

Quotable: Feeling moody in Greece 🇬🇷
“…what I found out is that I have several ups and downs in my mood, big ups and big downs… I mean, it comes in waves of mood and generally ranges from days, where I don’t have, let’s say… I am not willing to do anything. Everything eventually goes on of course! I’m just not in the mood myself. And then, there are other days when I am at my best again!”
