Adele Wimsett spent 20 years working in the criminal justice system before a health crisis of her own – her period stopped due to “healthy” habits like fasted training and keto – sent her down the rabbit hole of gender bias in medical research.
She retrained as a women’s health practitioner, and after her own ADHD diagnosis at 41, turned her science-nerd brain toward a question almost nobody was asking: what do hormones actually do to the ADHD brain?
She’s hormone-literate, neurodivergent-informed, and deeply committed to education over one-size-fits-all protocols. I also LOVE her on Instagram. As a subscriber, you get the Hotflash inc Podcast first, sent right to your inbox.

Editor’s note
I’m still thinking about a comment a woman made on Instagram earlier this summer. She had a son who’d been through the wringer with ADHD and said something along the lines of ‘it’s hard to watch middle-aged women say they have ADHD’. I wanted to say a million things. So many. But I knew she was hurting, because why else would she decide that her son’s issues were real and ours were… what, fabricated? Exaggerated for attention? I started the podcast with a clip from my question to Adele about how to take the “everyone has ADHD” question. I loved what she said. I’m working through these realizations – all of them – in real time. It’s really helping me to speak to people who have been diagnosed and who understand this stuff so clearly. I hope it’s helping you too. There are a lot of us, and we’ve been through a lot.
