Do you ever treat yourself like you are three people?

I am famous for this. I think it started back when I covered Ottawa City Hall in the early 2000s. 

I was the solo reporter for the city's tabloid at the time, meaning I was a bureau of one. 

The trio that covered the beat for the broadsheet had an office across the hall.

At first I was intimidated by the fact that I was competing for stories with the three reporters, and sometimes even additional reporters called in to help them, when it was just little old me.

Then I realized: Due to their large budgets and ample team, not to mention considerable swaths of time, they weren't exactly hustling.

And that was something I knew how to do very well. Before long, I started scooping them. It was exhilarating (and exhausting).
